Around Langkawi

After spending Christmas at Telaga Harbour (probably not our trip’s finest moment) we set sail again and dropped anchor in the North of the island in the bay in front of the luxurious Datai Resort where we spent a few days.

Apart from free wi-fi which covered the whole bay, this allowed us to get into the rhythm of life on board again.

One day on the beach we met a lovely couple from Milan with two daughters the same age as Anna and Julia; we had a great time together and went on a day cruise to an island nearby.

We spent New Year’s Eve on board and admired the fireworks organized by the Datai (they had previously asked us to move the boat for safety reasons).

After Datai bay we sailed 12 miles East to a very unique site called the “Hole in the Wall”; this is a spectacular opening between two rocks that leads into a creek surrounded by mangroves. You can proceed for a couple of miles into what is practically a jungle river.

We anchored in this incredible setting and spent the night under an unforgettable starry sky. 

We then returned to Telaga for a quick provisioning stop before heading to Thailand.

Alcuni giorni intorno a Langkawi.

Dopo aver trascorso Natale nel porto di Telaga abbiamo ripreso il mare per andare ad ancorarci di fronte al lussuoso Datai Resort dove siamo rimasti alcuni giorni. Questo ci ha permesso di ritrovare I ritmi della vita in barca. 

Slla spiaggia del Datai abbiamo incontrato una coppia di Milano simpaticissima in vacanza con le due fglie dell’eta’ di Anna e Julia. Siamo diventati cosi’ amici che li abbiamo invitati a una gita su una spiaggia in un isola vicino.

Abbiamo la notte dell’ultimo dell’anno in barca e abbia potuto goderci I fuochi d’artificio orgaizaati dak Datai (dopo avere spostato la barca un po’ piu’ sopravvento che non si sa mai…).

Alcuni giorni dopo ci siamo spostati alcune migila piu’ a est in un posto chiamato the Hole in the Wall (il buco nel muro). E’ praticamente una spaccatura nella roccia che da accesso ad una cricca che si inoltra per diverse migla all’interno della costa. E’ un passaggio molto pittoresco dove si naviga nella giungla circondati da mangrovie. 

Abbiamo passato la notte all’ancora nella cricca con un silenzio incredibile e una stellata favolosa.

Il giorno dopo ci siamo diretti di nuovo a Telaga per rifornirci dato che ora partiremo per la Tailandia.
