We
are now on ‘terra firma’!
On the 30th July we sailed back to
Singapore. Enrico had temporarily
fixed the jib and Olivia showed us once more how beautifully she sails. Enrico attempted to cross the busy
shipping lanes under sail and had to turn the engine on once as a huge
container ship sounded its horn in our ears. We cleared immigration and sailed in to Keppel Marina.
E' finita l'avventura
Il 30 luglio, dopo aver fatto dogana in Indonesia siamo partiti per Singapore. Olivia e' stata la nostra casa per un'anno e ci ha portato in giro in sicurezza per 4.000 miglia (piu' che da Gibilterra a New York). Avevamo fatto una riparazione di fortuna al fiocco cosi' che Olivia ha potuto attraversare a vele spiegate lo stretto davanti a tutte le petroliere.
La nostra avventura volge al termine; e' stata un'esperienza indimenticabile: piu' impegnativa di quello che ci aspettassimo ma anche piu' ricca di esperienze. Questo anno di navigazione cia ha senz'altro cambiati e reso piu' forti.
Olivia has been our home for a year and looked after us wonderfully on our 4,000 nautical mile adventure. Enrico will take her up to Langkawi soon where she will sadly be for sale. We would love to keep her but she needs to be sailed and not kept in a marina waiting for us to come and sail for 2 weeks a year.
It has been a wonderful adventure – many ups and downs and more intense than we thought it would be but we have come out the other end, happy with what we have learnt.

In particular we have a lot of admiration and respect for Anna, Julia and Nadia. They have demonstrated themselves to be capable and resilient little people; faced with difficult situations they have always buckled up and done what was required.
We hope that in 20 years from now they will look back at this blog and realize what they have achieved and how proud we are of them.

Siamo pieni di rispetto ed ammirazione per Anna, Julia e Nadia che hanno dimostrato di essere delle personcine determinate ed in gamba.
Nelle situazioni difficili hanno sempre fatto la loro parte senza lamentarsi.
Speriamo che tra vent'anni leggendo questo blog si rendano conto di come sono state brave e di quanto siamo fieri di loro.
